Greetings! Hi! Jambo! Kia Ora! G’Day! Dag! Hola! Guten Tag! Take a look at my “About” page to learn why I’m an author and climate activist. Every day I wake up and consider what I can do to make this planet better. Reducing my carbon footprint is a big part of that, which is why my website is being hosted by GreenGeeks. They do carbon offsets, which I’m pretty excited about. It’s going to take all of us to save our world.

My Young Adult Fiction Trilogy
The 2nd book in The Skye Van Bloem Trilogy was published in paperback and eBook in February 2020. Holding is a climate dystopia, so get ready for a harrowing journey with Skye and her friends. And yes, there is romance and adventure and a bit of mild sex. The first book in the trilogy, Countdown, touches on biodiversity importance, a theme that permeates everything in my life.
I’m a fierce protector of public lands and everything wild–even the ugly animals, who often end up being the most valuable members of an ecosystem. I write a bunch of letters to my elected officials; I sign loads of petitions; I organize rallies; I serve on many environmentally-based committees. I talk about the climate crisis. All. The. Time.
The last book in the trilogy, Launch, was published on November 7, 2020. It’s about political revolution, and it’s an interesting coincidence that Nov 7 was also the day the US election was called for Joe Biden. There is a violence content warning for Launch, since it is a young adult book. Check out the video book trailer on YouTube.
Are you in a book club looking for your next read? I will speak to your group over Zoom, for free. Check out a list of book club questions for the first book in the trilogy, the second book, and the final book.
I’ll also be chatting about aviation and grief on my blog. Check out my aviation love story, and my grief self-help book. I recently went to Tanzania and Kenya, so take a look at my blogs about the trip. There are some amazing photos from my daughter.

My newsletter will have vegetarian recipes, pictures of my puppy Finnegan, book suggestions and writing tips, and conservation news from my protagonist Skye. I plan to highlight another writer too. I will be doing book promos, giveaways, and a contest to win a bracelet like the one my protagonist Skye wears.
